remarks 1. Note on label from original collector (name unknown): 'There are about three main localities for this species in a 5 km stretch between Yawatahama and Nishi-Uwa-gun. It is found in natural forest on almost level ground. There is almost no difference in animal or shell morphology; there are a few unbanded ones in Nishi-Uwa-gun, but that's all. These specimens are from Hinokidani; they occurred naturally in my back yard. They are a little smaller than wild ones, but have a beautiful pattern. I guess they are about three years old. Natural distribution? Introduction?'
