remarks One specimen with two valves disarticulated. Three specimens were in lot when Davis et al. (1979) published on it, but according to Bednall's note he only sent one specimen and ledger lists only one. He lists the locality as Sultana Bay. Iredale and Hull (Proc. R. Zool. Soc. NSW, 1927:19) stated 'Type is in coll. Matthews ex Bednall' and corrected locality data. PRC, 07 May 2015: Piece of letter from Bednall placed in department files.

Garback: Original ANSP catalogue label correctly lists Yorkes Peninsula as the locality. At some later point in time, a second ANSP label was added to the lot, incorrectly listing the locality as Cape York Peninsula, Queensland. The incorrect locality was listed in Tryonia 1- and is now being corrected. 05, -- Jul 1988, P. Kaas, lectotype, Ischnochiton pilsbryi; lectotype selected Kaas + Van Belle, 1988, Mon. Living Chitons, 4. 2 specimens split from lot and recatalogued as paralectotype lot ANSP 372575.
