Alcohol collection was accessioned at ANSP as no. 372 in 1877. Old jars with original labels maintained in malacology alcohol collection area. Anatomical notes are in notebook 4:34-35. 2 males. Examined 13 June 1859. Anatomical notes published by Lea (1860: 338-339) Jour. ANSP. Johnson (1970:316-317) designated USNM 85718 as lectotype. Johnson included this taxon as a junior synonym of Elliptio complanata - not likely in the upper Coosa-Alabama River system.
