Alcohol collection was accessioned at ANSP as no. 372 in 1877. Old jars with original labels maintained in malacology alcohol collection area. Anatomical notes are in notebook 1:22. 3 females. Anatomical notes published by Lea (1860:333-334) Jour. ANSP. Lea corrected name from inusitatis to Unio inusitatus Lea, 1859 (Lea 1861:93). Jour. ANSP and corrected the name in the errata of his Observations vol. 8 (Lea 1862). This is a justified emendation (ICZN 33(b)(ii)). Johnson (1970:324) designated USNM 85531 as lectotype.
