Remarks
ANSP 50580
remarks Say (1824) mentioned two localities, each for one specimen: Mr. Fatioâs planation for a dead, imperfect specimen and Lake George for a âperfect specimenâ. As the specimen in this lot is in better condition than the paralectotype, it is considered to be the one from Lake George. When Richardson split this lot to remove the paralectotype (ANSP 365373), he removed the larger shell, assuming that the smaller shell, which had 50580a written on it was Bakerâs lectotype. However the âaâ was assigned by R. T. Abbott to indicate the âparatypeâ. Baker (1964) designated the larger shell as the lectotype. The larger shell was restored to this lot on 7 July 2016.
